Thursday, July 29th An outstanding group of sports leaders and media personalities from New York will gather on Thursday, July 29th from 6PM to 8PM, at Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant on Central Park South, to talk sports business and career development for students interested in a career in sports. Program Overview The 2010 Super Bowl was the most watched TV show in the history of television, following a record-setting year for sports media, as more fans watched sports on TV on wide screen plasma screens, the Internet and Mobile Media. As the sports industry has evolved into an increasingly global, media-driven market, the opportunities are limitless for aspiring students and professionals to produce sports programming and consider career opportunities in this exciting and challenging market. The Playbook On Saturday, March 13th at 2PM, Diamond Sports will offer a seminar for students, educators and professionals interested in sports media and production. This program will feature a presentation, Q&A, and hands-on demonstration of our state of the art new media recording studio currently used by the NY Giants, MLB, the NBA and the NHL. Diamond Sports will present new media production technology, trends and developments, featuring Mark Jeffers, our resident expert and former NBC and CBS executive. Mark will discuss contemporary sports media technology and production trends and developments, including live streaming technology, and share insight into developing sports programs and career opportunities in this dynamic, growing field. The Diamond Sports team will show you how to produce a professional sports program with virtual studio sets, including live streaming, learn about career opportunities in sports media, and participate in an interactive training session. Damond Sports and the Hudson Valley Renegades have teamed up again to present Developing Your Perfect Pitch™ , a student internship competition developed by Diamond Sports to promote education and entrepreneurship in minor league baseball. This sports career development event has been designed for area students to enter into a competition to develop a marketing idea for the Renegades and join the team as an intern for fall of 2010. Contestants will submit their marketing concept as an essay, to be judged by the Diamond Sports panel of sports education and professional development experts, and the Renegades GM and management team, prior to the deadline of Friday, August 27th, 2010. On Tuesday, April 13th at 7PM, Diamond Sports Careers will present “So, You Want to Be an Agent”, to be held at our training and conference center, at 800 Westchester Avenue, 6th Floor, in Rye Brook, New York. This program has been developed for students and professionals interested in pursuing a career as an agent, and feature a presentation by Bobby Barad, professional sports agent, and Diamond Sports Career partners. Barad’s clients include NY Yankees star Robinson Cano, Tampa Bay Rays AllStar Evan Longoria, and a number of other major athletes from across the spectrum of professional sports.
