Diamond Sports and the Hudson Valley Renegades present Developing Your Perfect Pitch™  , a student internship competition developed by Diamond Sports to promote education and entrepreneurship in minor league baseball.  This sports career development event has been designed for area students to enter into a competition to develop a marketing idea for the Renegades and join the team as an intern for fall of 2010. Contestants will submit their marketing concept as an essay, to be judged by the Diamond Sports panel of sports education and professional development experts, and the Renegades GM and management team, prior to the deadline of Friday, August 27th, 2010.
 
Sports Career Seminar
 
Each contestant will be invited to attend a sports career seminar at the stadium, presented by Diamond Sports. This seminar will feature a presentation on key sports industry trends and developments, career preparation tips, and programs designed for aspiring career-minded students and professionals.  
 
Diamond Sports Perfect Pitch™ Competition
 
Starting May 1st, students will be able to submit their marketing idea essay in writing to the Diamond Sports panel, describing your idea, program or project. Each entry will be reviewed and judged by the Diamond Sports Careers panel of career development experts, including the GM of the Renegades, and 3 finalists will be chosen to appear at the September 2nd game vs. the Staten Island Yankees, and deliver their Perfect Pitch on College Night at Dutchess Stadium, in front of thousands of fans and the Diamond Sports panel. One winner will be chosen, based on the quality and uniqueness of their concept, and ability to deliver their “Perfect Pitch”. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded the internship with the Renegades for Fall 2010, along with a check to pay for their textbooks, an Apple iPad reader, a Lunch and Learn with the Renegades GM and Diamond Sports, and their Perfect Pitch video on the Renegades and Diamond Sports web sites.

All entries received by opening day, June 18th, will also be entered into a drawing for participation in the Diamond Sports Big Apple Career Week Program, which will include seminars and networking events at Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, Madison Square Garden, MLB Studios, Chelsea Piers, Mickey Mantle’s on Central Park, the new Meadowlands, Red Bulls Arena and the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center.

The Diamond Sports Big Apple Career Week  offers a unique opportunity to participate in an engaging, highly interactive career and education development program . The Diamond Sports Big Apple Sports Career Week will feature presentations from senior sports executives and “rising stars”, at many of the most famous sports venues in the world. Events will include career seminars, workshops, networking, lively discussions about current sports business trends and futures, employer perspectives, education programs, and inside tips and techniques on how to get started in this exciting and growing industry.  Speakers planning to appear include HBO Sports President Ross Greenburg, Bloomberg Sports GM Bill Squadron,  ESPN SVP Communications Chris LaPlaca, ESPN Radio’s Ryan Ruocco, New York Mets SVP Marketing David Newman, Sports Agent and Entrepreneur Bobb Barad, former New York Yankees PR Director Rick Cerrone, SNY sports personality Chris Carlin, NYC & Company SVP Marketing Andrew Gould, and many more. An outstanding group of sports leaders and media personalities from New York will gather on Thursday, July 29th from 6PM to 8PM, at Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant on Central Park South, to talk sports business and career development for students interested in a career in sports. Join us for food and fun, as you connect with Chris Carlin, SNY and Rutgers, former Yankees PR Director Rick Cerrone, and sports business people from ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, Edelman Sports, and others, who will join our team from Diamond Sports Careers and students from all over the U.S., for an evening of food and fun, at one of the most famous sports restaurants in the world.

The entry fee for this event is $75. All students who attend will be offered an opportunity to enter into a competition for a Lunch and Learn with Diamond Sports at Mickey Mantle’s, a free evaluation of your resume, and participate in the Diamond Sports Perfect Pitch™ Competition at College Night at the Hudson Valley Renegades game on September 4th.
