The second annual Big Apple Sports Career Camp was held July 26th to July 29th 2011. This week-long event featured sports industry leaders and “rising stars” who shared their experience and insight on the business of sports and career development. New York Yankees COO Lonn Trost appeared as our keynote speaker at a private luncheon with Big Apple Career Camp 2011 students at Yankee Stadium. The Big Apple Career Camp 2011 lineup of distinguished industry speakers included Sports Media Advisors CEO Doug Perlman, Bloomberg Sports Cofounder Bo Moon, social media sports agent Jeff Weiner, MLB Network EVP David Gavant, ESPN columnist Roy Johnson, former NY Yankees Sr. Director of Communications Rick Cerrone, NY Giants SVP Marketing and Sponsorships Kevin Fraturra, SI.com Social Media Manager Ben Kaplan and many more. The Big Apple Sports Career Camp “Class of 2011″ came from across the U.S. from major colleges and universities.
Big Apple Career Camp students from all over the U.S. engaged in a series of experiential learning seminars and networking events at the New Meadowlands Stadium , MLB Network Studios, ESPN 1050 studios, CBS Sports Studios, and participated in a networking event with event speakers and special guests from the sports industry at Mickey Mantle’s Restaurant on Central Park.

The 2011 Black Diamond Award, sponsored by Barnum Financial Group, was presented at Yankee Stadium to Anthony Durante, based on his demonstrated ability to engage in discussions with speakers, as he presented himself as an excellent candidate for a position in the sports industry, and earned the highest number of points on the final exam given to students at the end of the program about the seminars, speakers and venues visited during the 4 day event.
